First Day of Practice is TOMORROW!

It was great to see so many new and returning swim team faces at the pool today. Our first day of practice is TOMORROW. Here is a reminder of the practice schedule:

13 & Over.      4:00 – 5:00pm

11-12              5:00 – 5:45pm

9-10                5:45 – 6:30pm

8 & Under       6:30 – 7:00pm

There will be NO PRACTICE on Wednesday, May 28th, due to the weather and pool temperature.

Also, we wanted to emphasize a few important policies that we went over at the swim team meeting:

  1. For new swimmers, they must be able to swim a 25 across the pool without stopping or needing assistance from the lane rope or another person. It does not have to be fast or with perfect stroke technique, but this is an important safety requirement to be on the swim team.

During the first week of practice (Tuesday May 27th to Tuesday June 3rd), coaches will be evaluating swimmers to ensure that they are able to complete this requirement.

Again, this is not meant to be a stressful experience for swimmers and is solely intended for swimmer safety and development.

2. Coaches have the final say in what events a swimmer is entered in at meets. This includes B-Meets, where parents select events for their swimmer.

If your swimmer is DQed (disqualified) in a B-Meet in a particular stroke (this usually ends up being breast or fly), they will not be permitted to swim it in the next B-Meet without significant improvement and coach approval. This is in the best interest of the swimmer so that they have a chance to learn and practice swimming the stroke legally, without getting discouraged.

Now that you have read this email, it’s a great time to log on to Swimtopia and declare your swimmers for our meets. You should declare your swimmers for every meet that you are available for! This is super helpful to us when planning the season.

See you at practice tomorrow!
