Three Great Wins For NWB!
Happy Monday Dolphins!
We hope that you had a great holiday weekend and that you were able to use today to recover. We had a super full week!
We kicked off the week with our Dave and Busters social outing, where our Dolphin swimmers showed off their skills outside of the pool. It was nice to see so many Dolphins hanging out and working together.
On Wednesday, we had our Intrasquad B-Meet Showdown between the White and Blue Teams. Though the official score of the meet was 400-400, we settled the tie with an exciting dance battle, won by Coach Teddy. This meet was so much fun, with great cheering, 123 best times and a bunch of friendly competition. Thank you to everyone who volunteered and made this meet so successful.
Then, we had our annual Fourth of July Fun practice, filled with splash contests, waterpolo, fun relays and games. We finished off the day with popsicles and got ready for our busy weekend of meets.
On Saturday, the Dolphins traveled to Old Georgetown for our 4th dual meet of the season. We had a lot of great swims, including 42 best times. We won this meet 402 to 389, after a great second half and exciting relay finishes.
Finally, the Dolphins took on the whole division in Sunday’s Relay Carnival. Six of our relays took home first place, with four of those automatically qualifying for All Star Relays. In the end, all of our hard relay swims helped us finish first at this meet. Here are the final scores:
1. Northwest Branch Swim Team 190 2. Connecticut Belair 176
2. Old Georgetown Club 176 4. Hallowell Hurricanes 170
5. Woodley Gardens Waves 132 6. Manor Woods Swim and Dive Team 122
Additionally, we want to congratulate Hadley McAllister, Dottie Roszkowski, Emme Lebruto and Lyla Small for breaking an NWB record in the 9-10 Girls Medley Relay. They crushed the previous record by 3 seconds!
We are so proud of all of our Dolphin swimmers for working hard to get this crucial win in our competitive division. We are now seeded 3rd in the standings!
We would like to thank all of our alternates and swimmers who came to cheer at Relay Carnival on Sunday. We recognize that it is not easy to show up to a meet, unsure if you will get a chance to swim or not. All of our alternates came ready to swim and kept the energy high, which does not go unnoticed by coaches.
