Time Trial Recap and Our First A-Meet

Good evening Dolphins,

We are so proud of all of our swimmers who stepped up to swim tons of events and cheer hard. The first meet of the season can be difficult for swimmers, as nerves are high. We hope that all swimmers can find something to be proud of and we look forward to watching them grow throughout the season.

We want to remind parents and swimmers that getting DQ’d in an event is not something to be ashamed of. It is the first step in swimmer growth. Every swimmer gets DQ’d at some point, regardless of age or swimming experience. It is a normal part of swimming and helps us coaches know what to focus on at practice. If you have any questions about DQ's from trials, please let us know.

Thank you to all of our volunteers who made this meet possible!

Swimmers who missed Time Trials will have the opportunity to get timed in events at practice. We will do 2 time trials at each practice, one at the beginning and one at the end. It is especially important that if your swimmer is available for our first A-Meet that we get times for them so we can create the meet lineup.

Here is this week's schedule:

MONDAY - THURSDAY

13&Over : 4-5pm

11/12 : 5-5:45pm

9/10 : 5:45-6:30pm

8&Under : 6:30-7pm

FRIDAY

No practice - Scavenger Hunt Pep Rally – 6:00pm

SATURDAY

HOME A-Meet vs. Connecticut Belair

Our first A-Meet of the season will take place on Saturday, June 13th at home. The theme is Disney.

A-Meets are our competitive meets, where we swim against teams in our division and each race counts for points. At NWB, we do not have separate “A” and “B” teams, we are one team where any swimmer has a chance to swim in any meet. This is why it is super important that you declare your swimmer for EVERY meet you are in-town and available for, even if you don't think your swimmer will make the meet.

Coaches put together a lineup that will gain their team the most points. Broadly, this means that the top 3 (top 6 for freestyle) fastest swimmers in each event are selected to compete. However, availability and event maximums impact the lineup selection. If you have any questions about the lineup creation process, please email coach Maddie.

The deadline to declare for the first A-Meet is Wednesday, June 10th at 11:30pm.

After the meet, we will have team lunch from Wawa delivered to the pool. You can order lunch on Swimtopia.

Please remember to bring water to swim practice. Temperatures are high, and though being in the pool is refreshing, swimmers are still sweating. Make sure swimmers are hydrating throughout the week!

Go Dolphins,

Maddie, Teddy, Charlotte, Mia & Pernille
